GORE OPTIFADE Concealment is the only scientifically proven concealment pattern based on animal vision to optically fade a hunter into their surroundings. By using advanced blends of micro and macro patterns to fool animal vision rather than mimic a particular shape, GORE OPTIFADE Concealment is more versatile and more effective at getting hunters close to game.

Sitka periodically updates their lineup, but discontinued doesn't mean compromised. The Heavyweight Hoody's fabric, construction, and features are unchanged from when it was a core item. The 93% polyester, 7% elastane stretfleece and permanent Polygiene odor control perform exactly as they did on day one. If the sizing and color you need are still available, this hoody will perform the same in the field as it always has. Hunt Premium only stocks discontinued items that meet the same standards as our active catalog.
The Heavyweight Hoody is designed as a mid-layer for cold static hunts. The channelfleece insulation manages moisture while retaining warmth, making it effective for sits in sub-freezing conditions when paired with an appropriate outer shell. For extended sits in single-digit temperatures, you may want to add the Heavyweight Zip-T underneath or layer a vest over top. The system works together — pair it with the Heavyweight Bottom for full coverage.
The hood is low-profile and form-fitting by design — it's intended to sit against your head and turn with you, keeping your field of view clear. It will fit over a thin beanie but not over a heavy watch cap or ear-flap style hat. If you run a thick hat in cold weather, the hood will sit behind it and still provide neck coverage without restricting movement.
Subalpine is optimized for engagement ranges of 50 yards and less in tree-covered and vegetated terrain. It uses larger, more open macro-patterns designed for close-distance concealment on the ground. If you hunt open alpine or agricultural terrain at longer distances, other Optifade patterns like Open Country may serve you better. For whitetail, black bear, or elk in heavy timber, Subalpine is the right call.
Unlike surface sprays that wash out after a few cycles, Polygiene is integrated into the fabric during manufacturing. It uses silver salt treatment to neutralize odor-causing bacteria permanently. You won't see performance drop after ten or twenty washes. That said, avoid fabric softeners — they coat fibers and can reduce the treatment's effectiveness over time. Wash in cold water, hang dry, and the odor control will hold up season after season.
The same 30-day policy applies. If the hoody arrives and doesn't fit or isn't what you expected, return it unworn, with tags attached, in original packaging within 30 days for a full refund.
